Zion English Medium School was established in the year 1991 by the Zion Society for Education and Charity, Mr P.T Daniel as chairman and Mrs Daniel as the managing director. Mr Daniel founded this institution in honour of his parents Mr and Mrs P.C. Thomas. The school emphasises on educational, cultural and traditional values. The school is situated on the bank of river Pamba, blessed with natural beauty and serenity which is ideally suited for the growth of student’s wisdom and knowledge.
The school was inaugurated by Late. Mr. Ommen Thalavadi, former District Panchayath President, in Melukara with 15 students. The school commenced its journey with a committed workforce - a Head Mistress and three staff members. The school grew in size demanding additional space to accommodate more than 150 children within 2 years. Within the span of another 2 years, the Management was forced to upgrade the institution to a school to train children between 2.5 & 12 years of age. In 1995 the new block was inaugurated by Prof.P.J Kurien,Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
25 years of its successful existence, the school has made significant contribution towards education excellence. Today, Zion School is one of the excellent schools in the district, training the children between 2.5 to 15 years with strength of over 500 students and an enthusiastic work force of 50 members The school aims at providing educational facilities for the children in accordance with the syllabus of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE). The school follows co-educational pattern and the school is affiliated to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. It is our great achievement that our school has secured 100 per cent pass with high first class and distinction, for 11 consecutive years.
